Review of Video Questionnaire Results

Review of Video Questionnaire Results

From the results of the video questionnaire we can conclude that the film has the impressions on the select target audience that we wanted it to have.

We asked the question 'Do you understand the plot line?' and all people said that they did. For them to understand the plot line is an extremely effective to our results and to our film in general because we then know that we do not need to change our plot line. It is also good that they all understood the plot line because for an audience member to completely immerse themselves in a film and have the ability to enjoy it, they would have to understand the plot. Therefore because all understood the plot we know that they would have an honest chance to enjoy it.

Most of the people we asked said that they thought the film was in the psychological thriller or plainly thriller genre which is exactly what we wanted. We are happy that they thought it was in the thriller genre as all of our iconography from the story line fit in that direction which means we now have to prove the genre in the camera shots and editing. To have the audience specifically note it down to the sub genre that we also wanted made a large difference as that proved furthermore that we had included some correct implications in our story line that made the film fit into this genre.

When we asked what BBFC rating they thought that the film was aimed at, 2/3 of the answers were 15. This is good as this is the rating that we were aiming towards. The other results were quite different to each other. One said 18 so we know that we need to make sure that the violence isn't too intense as this might jeopardize the rating. The other said 'with adult' so we presume that this was 12A rating. Because of this we also need to make sure enough violence and swearing are included in the film to make sure that it gets that 15 rating, yet, without making it too violent and exceeding the 15 rating. We know now to focus on the fight scene in the film as it is vital to the story line and the rating of the film.

The next question we asked was what age group they thought the film would appeal to and everyone who answered said that they think adolescents would enjoy this film most. I don't think anyone understood what question we were asking them because we would have liked an age range. One person did say they think this film would be aimed towards anyone above the age of 12 which isn't an answer we would have like to have heard. The story line is gruesome so we all hope it doesn't come across too nice. There is a fight scene and a killing scene in the film and this isn't something 12 year old children should be allowed to see. Another person said that it is aimed towards teenagers and above 50 which suggests that there might not be a middle-age group that our film would appeal to.

We also asked our participants where they would expect to see the film. We didn't have an answer for this ourselves  so it was interesting to see what others thought. We got a range of different answers. One person said they'd see it a film festival and another said they can imagine it to be a film that goes straight to DVD. One third of the participants said they'd see it at the cinema and another third said they'd see it on late night television. As we didn't know what to expect, these answers weren't a shock. I, personally, didn't expect someone to say a film festival because it is a short thriller film. I think late night television is a good answer and i think I could visualise it on television as well.

And finally the last question we asked was 'would you personally watch this film?' Only one person answered no and she was an older woman so we know from this that maybe older women wouldn't enjoy this film which is understandable. 4 people who answered yes are under 20 which suggests that this film is aged towards adolescents, like the answers to our research has proved.

Overall, the answers we have received have proved that we are on the right track when it comes to giving our film a certificate and whether it'd be successful or not. We are all happy with the results of our video questionnaire.
