A tricky shot we would like to put into our film is the puling focus shot. This will involve the focus pulling from one character to another. We would like to use this shot when The Client see's Kyle for the first time and is watching him from the train station bridge. I researched how to do this and found some useful sources:
Panning and/or Tracking
When The Client is watching Kyle we have decided that one of these shots will be used but there will be a chance that another will be used after this shot. These shots are the right ones to use because they create the effect that someone is watching them and from the audience's point of view, they will be looking through the eye's of The Client. Again, I looked on Youtube for tutorial videos on how to do these simple but effective shots:
The next video just simply tells us how to pan with a camera which is simple and easy to understand:
High Angle Shot
We plan to use this shot when Kyle is violently hurting and beating The Client because we want it to be almost like a birds eye view of the struggle between them.
Low Angle Shot
Using this shot will give power to Kyle because it will be clear that he is on top of The Client and 'winning' the battle. We will also use a point of view shot to show The Client's violent face and facial expression will be shown whilst using this shot.
The next video shows examples of un-realistic low and high angled shots. This is basically want we want to do because we need the audience to understand that this struggle is just a power struggle because Kyle is homeless and needs this kind of power to feel normal and not so useless:
This video is a scene from Scrubs and has no relation to our film at all but it is clear that the woman wearing pink has much more power and authority over the man in blue and this is what effect we want to create during our film. Kyle needs to have an un-natural power over The Client and this will switch right at the end of the film. The Client will gain power throughout the film in character. In the flashbacks, he will be weak but when not in flashback, he will be a powerful stranger to the film and the audience.
